Why work for Birchwood?

At Birchwood, we’re here for the love of the animals. Life is better with a companion, or two, or six, and our job is to support them and their family with the advice, resources, and compassionate care they need to live full, happy, healthy lives together.

Our proactive approach to wellness and genuine care for our clients’ companion animals means that we’re always busy and getting busier. To keep up with our ever-growing client list, we’re always looking for Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, and Office Assistants, who feel the same way about animals (and taking care of them) as we do.

Why You Should Work With Us

Our team is paws-down, the best in Prince George (which is a great place to live by the way), and we’re proud of how they’re willing to go the extra mile for all our the furry, feathered, and scaled patients. One of the ways we show our appreciation is by doing our best to make sure our Birchwood team is supported in living full, happy, healthy lives themselves at work and outside our office. That includes providing:

  • Competitive wages
  • A supportive team environment
  • Regular team building activities
  • Work-life balance
  • Friendly & professional management
  • A brand-new facility and equipment with clean working conditions
  • Fear-free patient care
  • Ample appointment time
  • Locum support as needed
  • Medical spending account/benefits
  • An office espresso machine
  • A staff freezer that is always stocked with ice cream. Yum!

How We Work

Our primary approach to veterinary medicine and the core of our practice is to promote health and wellness by encouraging healthy habits that will help prevent disease, which means that a lot of our work involves regular check ups with pets and their families so that we can do weight monitoring, offer nutritional advice, keep vaccines up to date, handle parasite control, and other small things that make a world of difference. This also lets us build up a baseline knowledge of both the companion animals that we care for and their people, which lets us offer better informed, individualized care and clearer communication. After all, it’s all about working together to make animals’ lives better.
