Mckayla

Office Manager

Mckayla joined Birchwood Vet with extensive experience in kennel and daycare management, seeking a more regulated field due to the emotional toll and challenges of working with animals. The transition to veterinary medicine offered her an opportunity to address systemic issues and make a meaningful impact. She was drawn to Birchwood Vet because of Ben and Mel’s commitment to setting new standards and addressing the common issues in pet care, including the emotional and financial challenges faced by veterinary professionals. Their innovative approach and dedication to improving the field aligned perfectly with her problem-solving skills and passion for enhancing animal care.

Mckayla holds college-accredited certifications in Kennel Management, Basic Obedience, and as a Master Trainer through Canada West Canine Centre. Her educational background includes various post-secondary courses in psychology, biology, chemistry, sociology, and English studies, which have informed her approach to management and client care. Her diverse experience spans managing busy kennels, implementing marketing strategies, and running her own training business, all of which have contributed to her expertise in animal behaviour and efficient management practices.

Outside of work, Mckayla enjoys adventurous outings with her dogs, including long drives, forest explorations, and paddle-boarding. She’s also a fan of cozy evenings at local breweries and movie nights with her canine companions. Mckayla’s unique ability to read and respond to canine and feline behaviour is a valuable asset to the team, enhancing the overall care and comfort of the animals at Birchwood Vet. Her passion for improving animal care and her commitment to the clinic’s mission make her an integral part of the Birchwood family.
