Dr. Kaitlyn Liukaitis, DVM, was inspired to pursue veterinary medicine by an early passion for wildlife and conservation. She earned a BSc with a major in Zoology from the University of Calgary and a DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated with honors and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society. She completed her clinical rotations at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine and is certified in basic wildlife rehabilitation by the IWRC.
Dr. Liukaitis has extensive experience working and volunteering with wildlife facilities, including ARCAS in Guatemala, The St. Kitts Sea Turtle Monitoring Network, The Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre, The Wildlife Hospital of Louisiana, and Good Caws Crow Rescue. She also assists the Conservation Officers in Prince George as needed.
Her special interests include exotic companion animals and wildlife/conservation medicine. Dr. Liukaitis hopes to eventually return to RUSVM to pursue a PhD with a focus on sea turtles.
Outside of work, Dr. Liukaitis enjoys roller derby, watching Supernatural, traveling, and outdoor activities like hiking. She brings a unique expertise in exotic animals to the team at Birchwood Veterinary Clinic.
