Euthanasia
End of Life / Euthanasia
When you have made the difficult decision to say goodbye to your pet, please call the clinic to make the appointment. Our receptionists will go over the process with you and present you with some of the options to think about prior to your appointment. A day before your appointment, we will text you a form to fill out which lets you indicate your final decisions for aftercare and memorabilia.
What to expect:
On the day of your appointment, our aim is to make this as comfortable as possible for you and your beloved pet. Once you arrive, our receptionists will greet you and direct you and your companion over to the scale so we can get an updated weight. Once that is complete we will then move you into the privacy of our comfort room where you will remain for the duration of the appointment. This room is set up with lowlights and instrumental music in order for you to experience a more peaceful environment.
Once you are settled, we will collect payment and go over aftercare and memorabilia options. We want you to spend those last precious moments focusing on your pet.
When you are ready, a technician will come into the room to administer a sedative to make them relax and you will have some time to spend with your pet while the sedation takes effect. Once your companion is sedated, the technician will place an IV catheter. The doctor will then come into the room to go over the final steps of the procedure with you. The doctor will then leave to give you some time for a final goodbye. When you are ready, you can leave out the back door to give you the most privacy while you grieve.
